Velocite: Magnus 3.0 (Frameset)
Description
The 3rd generation Velocite Magnus is here. The new version features dual compatibility Di2 or mechanical internal cable routing, new lightweight graphics and a tuned layup that sheds 5% of weight but retains the highest torsional stiffness of any road racing bike on the planet.
Key Features
Monocoque unidirectional (UD) high modulus blend carbon fibre composite
Internal Di2 or cable routing
Asymmetric, tapered head tube 1 1/8″ top, 1.5″ bottom
BB30 bottom bracket
Carbon fiber head tube angular contact headset races
Carbon dropouts
Patented seat post clamp system
Unmatched torsional stiffness
980 – 1100g weight
Since the original Magnus set the performance bar so very high, following up and improving upon it was no simple task, nevertheless, the new Velocite Magnus retained all that was extraordinary about the Magnus and improved on it.
There is no secret to Magnus’ dominance, they just chose to invest more in higher quality materials and the best manufacturing methods currently available. The advanced multi-modulus carbon fibre layup uses up to 13 layers of ultra high, high and intermediate modulus unidirectional carbon fiber in critical locations to virtually eliminate any lateral flex. Due to the optimized tube profiles of the Magnus, even the weight has been kept low with the size M frame weighing in at just 1080g.
The tapered aerodynamic profile Velocite Bora S fork also contributes to the increased stiffness, and overall low weight of the frame set (module). It weighs just 360g. This is in part due to its excellent mechanical design where the fork crown area was made 15% larger than before, thus managing the peak loads more effectively without a significant weight penalty.
The patented seat post clamp eliminates the need for a seat tube extension, thus achieving a more streamlined look. However the benefit is not only aesthetic, the main benefits of the new clamp are a more secure hold with a reduced risk of damage, and increased rider comfort due to the more exposed seatpost. The aggressive appearance is further accentuated by the blade like, curved seat stays that now also benefit from advanced aerodynamic profiling.
