Estarli: E28 Series, Full Size Electric Bike
Description
Estarli’s upright E28.X features large 28” wheels with 2 automatic gears and a clean belt drive, plus a seating position to enjoy the view wherever it may be. Simply pedal and the rear hub motor will engage, switching between the low and high gears, depending on your effort and speed.
The long, slim battery is tucked neatly into the frame, so it remains virtually invisible: it’s nearer the width of a chocolate bar than a baguette, so you really need to look closely to spot the hatch on the side of your frame. The pack is also accessible if you wish to remove it, although you can recharge it in-situ so can simply plug the charger into your bike between rides.
The large wheel size also provides the space for a decent sized rear rack, capable of supporting larger panniers for groceries and day trips alike. This certainly includes a ride around Richmond Park and environs, to and from work, as well as an impromptu pint of milk.
We particularly like the silent, smooth ride and uncluttered handlebars, seemingly free of the gadgets integrated within: this model is refreshingly easy to hop on and cover a dozen miles in whatever you happen to be wearing, that you will find yourself doing exactly that.
The formula which soon springs to mind, is of a classic Dutch bike with a modern twist. Generations of those have been a staple of daily life from Haarlem to Hanoi, because they’re accessible to all: add a discrete motor and this is the C21 version of exactly that.
Child seats can also be fitted until the combined weight of your child, seat and accoutrements reaches the stated limits: this is typically before your protege reaches around age 4, following which we recommend a family cargo bike … including the Estarli Longtail.
